The Highlands Theatre Group Inc. (hereafter referred to as HTG) values the privacy of our members and guests. This policy is aimed to address how and why we require your personal information and how we secure it once collected.
We only ask for information to the extent necessary to provide you with the good or service you are seeking from us or to comply with regulations set by NSW Fair Trading Legislation for Incorporated Associations.
How We Collect and Use Information
We collect personal information from or about you for several reasons. For example, this may occur when you:
- Apply for membership with HTG
- Buy a ticket for a performance
- Join our mailing list
- Purchase merchandise from us
- Buy a ticket to other events where HTG is the promoter
- Request information from us
- Make a donation
There are many reasons why the information requested is required. This may include:
- To comply with legal obligations
- To complete the request or transaction you have made (e.g. process a ticket purchase)
- To respond to a specific request you have made
We also collect non-identifiable demographic type data to ensure we are meeting the needs of our patrons for areas such as advertising and production selection.
Financial information (such as credit card information) is requested to process transactions but is not retained.
Website and Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies within our website. Cookies are however used to tailor the experience including with our box office software. Basic, non-identifiable information may be collected to facilitate this. This information may also be used as part of our internal reviews to marketing and assets.
Many web browsers permit the blocking of cookies. You are of course free to do so, however it may impact your usage of our site. Blocking of cookies will prevent usage of our box office software. If you do not wish to permit cookies, you may still purchase tickets from us by completing a query via the Contact Us page.
HTG generally does not collect information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or membership, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade association or union membership, sexual preferences or criminal record.
We may collect this information if:
- You provide consent for us to do so
- We are (or become) legally obligated to
- It is necessary to prevent serious or imminent threat to life or health
HTG may at times require, as a condition of involvement, certain members to hold Working With Children Checks. Members are responsible for obtaining these checks themselves. HTG, for the purposes of complying with legal obligations, will collected and record date of birth, Working with Children Check Number and expiry. HTG will not request or receive reasons for a failed Working with Children Check.
Other Use and Disclosure of Information
Information Collected is Confidential
Any information collected is considered confidential and is treated in the same manner as any other confidential information received by us.
We will not sell your information to a third party.
We will not disclose personal information to any third party except where:
- Required to by law
- To reasonably conduct our business
- Information disclosed under this point will not be personally identifiable (e.g. as part of statistics of membership)
We may use or disclose personal information collected for the purpose intended. We may also use your information for a secondary purpose if:
- The secondary purpose is related to the primary purpose
- You would reasonably expect us to use or disclose your information
For example, by booking tickets to our productions we may provide promotional material to future productions of a similar nature. We will always provide the ability to both “opt-out” or make adjustments to marketing preferences.
We may also disclose information where:
- You have given us consent to do so
- We are required by law to do so
- It is necessary to prevent a serious or imminent threat to life or health
Security of Information
HTG will take all reasonable steps to ensure security of collected information and protect it from misuse, loss or unauthorised modification or disclosure.
The nature of the internet means security during transmission of information cannot be assured. Once information is received by HTG, it will only be stored in secure locations. HTG also has procedures in place to ensure information is handled by persons authorised and in accordance with this policy.
Your Right to Access
We take steps to ensure information held is correct and up to date. On occasion, we may request that you update your details to ensure they are correct.
You may request to view the personal information we hold about you. If the information is not accurate, you may ask us to correct it.
Requests are subject to an approval process and may require proof of identity prior to provision.

Our website includes links to other websites. Whilst care is taken to ensure the accuracy of the links, HTG is not responsible for the privacy practices of external parties or their operators.
