The Odd Couple – Female Casting

This is the information page for HTG’s upcoming production of The Odd Couple – Female Cast.

Sunday 6th of August 2017 from 2pm at the Bowral Church of Christ, 56 Wingecarribee Street, Bowral 2576.  Audition pieces, audition forms, rehearsal and performance schedules (attached to the audition form) and associate membership forms are all found at the bottom of this page.

A divorced slob invites a group of the girls over for trivial pursuit. One of the guests, who happens to be very meticulous and tense, has just been separated from her husband. The slob and the neat-freak decide to share one apartment; but patterns of their own disastrous marriages begin to reappear with hilarious results.
Unger and Madison are at it again! Florence Unger and Olive Madison, that is, in Neil Simon’s hilarious contemporary comic classic: the female version of The Odd Couple. Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. The Pigeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constazuela brothers. But the hilarity remains the same.

Casting Information:

  • Olive Madison (Lead): Female, Mid 30’s to Mid 40’s

attractive, divorced, professional, vibrant, active, quick-witted, big-hearted, but also relentlessly sloppy and careless when it comes to the routine concerns of her personal life. She is very much at home in running shorts and a t-shirt, and still looks smashing in a cocktail dress. The female counterpart to the original play’s Oscar Madison. She is a woman seriously in need of order in her life.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Florence Unger (Lead): Female, Mid 30’s to Mid 40’s

attractive, a homemaker/housewife and very recently separated from her husband, was a bookkeeper before she married, extremely “pulled together” (obsessively so), pathologically organized and neat, even sanitizes the telephone cord. Her personality is the complete antithesis of Olive’s personality. The female counterpart to the original play’s Felix Unger. A woman who badly needs to cut loose, give it up, take a risk.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Manolo & Jesus Costazuela (Supporting): Male, Mid 30’s – Mid 40’s (Manolo), Early 30’s – Late 30’s (Jesus)

brothers, both flight attendants for Iberia Airlines, elegant, well-mannered and extremely polite, meticulously well dressed, good-natured, good laughers, with engaging personalities, both speak with faultless Castilian Spanish accents. Manolo may be a year or two older than Jesus. Jesus may be a little less skilled with English than is his brother. Both are very classy gentlemen.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Mickey (Supporting): Female, Late 20’s – Early 40’s

a New York City policewoman and an organizer and problem solver.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Vera (Supporting): Female, Late 30’s – Mid 50’s

a bit literal-minded and a bit slow to get a point that everyone else gets instantly, always seems “a few beats behind the conductor.”

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Sylvie (Supporting): Female, Mide 30’s – Early 40’s

highly energized and a wise-cracker.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Renee (Supporting): Female, 35-50

a wisecracker and a bit of a complainer as well.
